The handful of ideas everything in Desyn is built on — designs, pages, layers, roles, workspaces, brand kits, templates and credits.
Desyn has a small vocabulary. Once these ideas click, the editor, the AI and the API all behave the way you expect, because they share one model underneath.
The short version#
- A design is one document: a poster, a deck, a video. It has a kind, a name and one or more pages.
- A page holds layers (also called nodes): frames, groups, shapes, text, images, SVGs, videos, charts, tables and QR codes, stacked back to front.
- Layers can carry a semantic role — headline, photo, price, CTA — that tells the AI what they are for.
- Designs live in a workspace, where members have a role (owner, admin, editor, commenter, viewer).
- A brand kit stores colors, fonts, logos, voice and rules so the AI and you can apply them anywhere.
- A template is a ready-made design with named slots you fill in.
- Credits measure AI usage on the hosted Pro plan. Your own keys and local models do not use them.
Every change to a design — by you, a collaborator, the agent or a workflow — is a transaction: a labeled list of operations that applies atomically, syncs to everyone in real time, and undoes as one step.
