Version history

Every change is recorded. Browse automatic snapshots and named versions, compare, restore, and keep history for as long as your plan allows.

On this page

Desyn records every change to a design as a transaction with a label ("Move headline", "AI: make it more premium"), who made it and when. Version history turns that log into points in time you can browse and restore.

Version history is part of Pro (90 days of history) and the self-hosted edition (unlimited).

Opening history#

Choose Version history from the logo menu or press ⌘Ctrl⌥AltH. The panel lists:

  • Named versions — points you saved on purpose.
  • Automatic snapshots — taken regularly while a design is being edited (every 200 changes or five minutes of activity), grouped by session and author.

Select an entry to preview the design as it was. The canvas becomes read-only while you browse, and you can flip between pages.

Saving a named version#

Press ⌘Ctrl⌥AltS or choose Save version in the panel, and give it a name such as "Sent to client" or "Before rebrand". Named versions are easy to find later and are a good habit before large AI changes.

Restoring#

Choose Restore this version on any entry. Restoring does not erase what came after: it applies the old state as a new change, so the restore itself appears in history and can be undone. Collaborators see the restore live.

To recover just one element, open the old version, copy the layers you need, return to the current version and paste in place (⌘Ctrl⇧ShiftV).

Undo versus history#

Undo (⌘CtrlZ) walks back through your own recent changes in this session. Version history covers everyone's changes over time. Use undo for the last few steps and history for anything older.
