Adding images#

  • Drag files onto the canvas, paste from the clipboard, or press ⌘Ctrl⇧ShiftK to pick a file.
  • Open Uploads for everything you have uploaded before, or Photos to search stock photography from Unsplash and Pexels. Photographer attribution is stored with every stock photo you place.
  • Generate a new image from a description in the AI panel — see asset tools.
  • Drop an image onto a shape or frame to use it as that layer's image fill.

Common image formats such as PNG, JPEG, WebP, GIF and SVG are supported; SVG uploads are sanitized. Identical files are stored only once. The maximum file size depends on your plan (15 MB on Free, 200 MB on Pro).

Fit and crop#

An image layer has a fit mode:

FitBehavior
FillCovers the whole box, cropping the overflow
FitShows the whole image inside the box, letterboxed if needed
CropShows exactly the region you choose
TileRepeats the image across the box

Double-click an image (or press ↩Enter) to crop: drag the image inside its frame, resize the visible region, and zoom. Press ↩Enter again to finish. The original is never altered, so you can re-crop at any time.

Shape and corners#

Give an image rounded corners, clip it to an ellipse, or clip it to any vector path from the Shape menu. For masks made of other layers, place a shape above the image, select both and use Use as mask.

Adjustments#

The Design tab shows adjustments for the selected image. All are non-destructive and can be reset individually:

AdjustmentRange
Brightness, contrast, saturation−1 to 1
Exposure−1 to 1
Temperature, tint−1 to 1
Hue−180° to 180°
Vignette, grayscale, sepia, sharpen, grain0 to 1
Blurin pixels

Duotone maps the image's shadows and highlights to two colors — a quick way to make mixed photography feel like one set. Filters are named presets that set several adjustments at once; apply one, then fine-tune.

Background removal#

Choose Remove background in the context toolbar. The result is stored as a separate mask, so the original pixels stay intact: you can refine the edge or turn the mask off later. See asset tools.

Image quality#

Desyn keeps your original file and renders it at whatever resolution the canvas or export needs. If an image will print or export blurry at its current size, the design check flags it as low resolution; Upscale can fix that.

Alt text#

Add an accessibility description under Alt text in the inspector. It is used by screen readers in shared and website designs and exported where formats support it. The agent can write alt text for every image on a page: "add alt text to all images".
